Comprehensive orthopedic care

With over 80 orthopedic specialists at nine locations, our practice provides trusted, personalized and convenient care for patients of all ages. Our physicians have advanced fellowship training in ten different musculoskeletal subspecialty areas, which means you receive a precise diagnosis and treatment plan for any bone or muscle injury or condition. For immediate care, call our Orthopedic Injury Clinic for same-day appointments at two area locations.

We’re also among the first departments at Washington University School of Medicine to implement  the National Institute of Health's (NIH) Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System, or PROMIS. This national initiative uses an algorithm and patient questionnaires to hone in on how factors such as lifestyle choices, obesity, exercise and mental health impact the progression of diseases or the outcome of different treatment options.

As the #3 NIH-funded orthopedic research program in the United States, our orthopedic providers and research faculty are turning their scientific discoveries into future orthopedic treatments. Areas of research include cartilage biology and joint disease, tendon injury and repair, and bone injury and repair. We're also looking at how stem cells promote musculoskeletal tissue regeneration of bone, cartilage, and tendons/ligaments.

An Orthopedic Clinical Research Center (OCRC) was developed to support clinical research in areas such as rotator cuff disease, anterior cruciate ligament injury, upper extremity nerve injury, and the non-operative management of hip impingement. The OCRC is currently working on over 400 active clinical research studies, with two of those being large scale, multi-center studies.
