Living Well Center Pilot Program

Shared Medical Appointments at the WashU Living Well Center®

What is a shared medical appointment?

Shared medical appointments are medical office visits led by a medical provider and conducted in a group setting. These visits function to manage symptoms or conditions among multiple people with similar goals, and the purpose is to provide treatment, peer support, and information from multiple disciplines. We currently offer three programs for shared medical appointments: Lifestyle as MedicineLong Covid Program, Movement and Exercise Program and a Weight Loss Program

What can I expect from participating in a shared medical appointment?

Your shared medical appointment will include a one-hour group session (in-person or virtual) that’s led by clinicians from the Living Well Center. Each session will include educational information, demonstrations and group discussion.

During your session, you will:

  • Learn how to use your lifestyle as medicine, through nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress reduction and health behavior change.
  • Participate in interactive demonstrations.
  • Learn strategies from other people with similar goals and conditions.
  • Be provided with educational content to take home with you as you work towards your goals.

How do I sign up?

  • Have your initial assessment at the Living Well Center prior to your first shared medical appointment.
  • Call us at (314) 514-3565 to schedule for one, some or all sessions. Please call in advance if you are unable to attend, as spots are limited. View our events calendar here for upcoming sessions.

Is it covered by insurance?

Each visit is billed to insurance as a return office visit (subject to copay, coinsurance, and/or deductible).
