Pre-Surgical Optimization Shared Medical Appointment
Successful joint replacement surgery or spine surgery begins before you enter the operating room. The Living Well Center pre-surgical optimization shared medical appointment is designed to help patients prepare for surgery by focusing on lifestyle habits that can support their recovery, such as nutrition, movement and exercise, sleep, stress, pain management recovery planning and goal setting.
During this virtual shared medical appointment, you'll learn alongside other patients preparing for surgery while learning from our experienced care team. You'll receive practical guidance, have the opportunity to ask questions and gain personalized strategies to optimize your health before surgery, helping to support a smoother recovery.
What can I expect from this shared medical appointment?
Your shared medical appointment will include a virtual one-hour group session that’s led by clinicians from the Living Well Center. Each session will include educational information, demonstrations and group discussion.
During this session, you will:
- Set short and long-term goals for recovery.
- Learn more about nutrition strategies to optimize healing post-surgery.
- Learn about strategies for pain management and stress reduction.
- Learn about ways to optimize sleep quality.
- Learn about the benefits of movement and how to incorporate movement into your day-to-day life to improve surgery outcomes.
- Be provided with educational content to utilize at home as you work towards your goals.
