Orthopedic Injury Clinic
Fast and specialized care for recent bone, joint and muscle injuries
When you have a sprain, jam or minor fracture, the WashU Medicine Orthopedic Injury Clinic offers expert care — without the ER*.
We evaluate and treat children (ages 5+) and adults with orthopedic injuries that have occurred within the past two weeks and have not been evaluated or treated by another provider. Patients receive care from orthopedic specialists, with on-site X-ray, splinting and casting available during the visit.
Injuries we treat:
• Bone, joint or muscle injuries from the past two weeks
• Sprains and strains
• Fractures/broken bones
• Minor dislocations
• Sports-related injuries
• Swollen joints caused by an injury
• Shoulder, elbow, hand, wrist, knee, ankle or foot injuries
• New back injury or pain that has occurred in the last 7 days
The Orthopedic Injury Clinic is appropriate for non-life-threatening orthopedic injuries, including sports-related injuries. It is not appropriate for chronic orthopedic problems, second opinions or pain medication refills.
*If you are actively bleeding, have an open wound or head injury, or have concerns for an infection, go to your nearest emergency room. We do not perform injections (joint or trigger point) in the injury clinic. Please call the office to schedule an appointment for this service.
