Young Athlete Center

The orthopedic and sports medicine team at the Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Young Athlete Center is dedicated to caring for pediatric and adolescent athletes with sports-related injuries, and is fully committed to return patients to their sport or activity as quickly and as safely as possible.

The Young Athlete Center offers:

  • Same-day appointments
  • Comprehensive evaluations by Washington University orthopedic and sports medicine physicians
  • On-site radiology, imaging, casting and splinting services
  • Nonsurgical management of sports-related injuries
  • Minimally invasive, surgical treatment of sports-related injuries, with same-day discharge
  • Pediatric specialty care of fractures
  • Sports-related concussion assessments
  • State-of-the-art therapy space for sport-specific rehab 
  • Multi-specialty care: orthopedics, sports medicine, physical therapy in a new state-of-the-art sports therapy space, adolescent medicine, pain management, sports psychology, rheumatology, cardiology, nutrition and more
  • Sports Safety Series: Injury prevention classes provided for groups of 15 or more with free, interactive educational classes to improve the overall health of young athletes

The Young Athlete Center also serves as the official medical provider for Lou Fusz Athletic, and is committed to keeping athletes on the field and in the game. If an injury occurs, athletes have access to the best in orthopedic and sports medicine care, in addition to all the other services the Young Athlete Center provides.
