Orthopedic Injury Clinic Frequently Asked Questions
The Orthopedic Injury Clinic remains open to treat patients with URGENT orthopedic needs. If you have a non-urgent orthopedic need, please call (314) 514-3500 to schedule a routine office visit.
NEW: Call Before Visiting the Orthopedic Injury Clinic
In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of our patients, staff and community, we’re now asking patients to call (314) 514-1642 to schedule their same-day injury clinic visit. Scheduling your same-day visit will reduce your wait time at the clinic and help protect your health.
What is an URGENT condition?
An urgent condition is one in which if treatment is delayed for 8-10 weeks, the ultimate outcome may be worse. For example, knee pain often is chronic. In other words, if you are seen and treated for knee pain in 8-10 weeks instead of now, you will have the same eventual outcome. On the other hand, if you have weakness and/or numbness from severe nerve compression and are not evaluated and potentially treated within 8-10 weeks, your outcome may be worse. If there is a question about the urgency of your condition, you may be offered an initial virtual visit.
In addition, for the safety of our patients and providers, please DO NOT come to the injury clinic if:
- You are experiencing flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
- You have been diagnosed or exposed to someone with COVID-19 (coronavirus).
- You have traveled by air or been to one of the high-risk areas as defined by the Center for Disease Control within the last 14 days.
If you have an urgent orthopedic injury and any of these 3 situations applies to you, please visit an emergency department. If you questions about whether you are able to be seen, please call (314) 514-1642.

Why should I come to the Injury Clinic vs. an Urgent Care Center or Emergency Room?
- Save time. A typical visit to the Orthopedic Injury Clinic will be much quicker than a visit to the emergency room or urgent care center. If casting, splinting or imaging is required, we can take care of it during your appointment.
- See a specialist. You will be seen by an orthopedic specialist at a state-of-the-art orthopedic facility. If follow up care is required, it will be scheduled before you leave the clinic. No need to call around the next day to find someone to see you at a specialty physician office visit.
