Meet Sofia Brant, PA
Recon Physician Assistant
Sofia is a physician assistant who specializes in the evaluation and nonoperative management of various hip and knee conditions.
Where are you from?

I grew up in St. Charles, MO.
What made you choose orthopedics as a specialty?
I chose orthopedics after working in the emergency department for several reasons. I enjoy having the ability to follow my patients so that I can assess their response to treatment plans and adjust as needed. Repeated visits allow my patients and I to build purposeful and trusting relationships where I hope they can feel known and cared for. Orthopedics also offers an incredible opportunity to help give patients a better quality of life so that they can continue to make positive impact in their lives and in their loved one's lives, which is a great honor.
What brought you to WashU Medicine Orthopedics?
I had always heard wonderful things about working for Wash U. I applied online and quickly came to like the staff and coworkers I met. It just felt like a great opportunity and a wonderful team to be a part of.
What aspect of your practice do you find most interesting or rewarding?
I enjoy helping patients come to understand their disease process and discussing the different treatment options available to them. It is rewarding to have a patient come into my office in pain, give them an injection in their knee, and have them start to feel improvement by the time they leave the office.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, snuggling and playing with my dog, and am always looking for a new restaurant to try. My husband and I love to travel. Just last year we went skiing in Aspen, beached at Rosemary Beach in Florida, and spent time in Switzerland and Spain.
If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?
I would love to be a modern Martha Stewart. I enjoy home decor, gardening, and cooking, so it seems like a great fit!
