Meet Dan Kinzel

Executive Director of Business Affairs 

Where are you from? 

I am originally from Cleveland, OH. However, I’ve been in St. Louis since 1990. I miss being near Lake Erie and the summer months but don’t miss the colder weather and snow. I’m still waiting for a Cleveland world series championship and/or Super Bowl win.

What brought you to WashU Medicine Orthopedics?

I’m very excited to join the Orthopedic team. As an executive director of another department in the school of medicine, I’ve been impressed with the work and accomplishments of the department. I’m excited to support and contribute to further success.

How do you support the department? 

I support the various administrative leaders including staff and faculty with business office services, clinical operations, data analytics, revenue cycle, marketing initiatives, research management, and educational programs.

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding? 

I really enjoy the diversity of my role participating in the various business aspects including the business development/practice expansion initiatives and operational facets.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work? 

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising and playing golf.

What's the best advice you ever received?

A few quotes I particularly like and find to have a great deal of truth.
