Meet Victoria Vondrak
Nurse Practitioner
Victoria specializes in the nonoperative management of acute musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. She sees patients at the Orthopedic Injury Clinic, providing care for urgent orthopedic injuries.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Sioux City, a small town in northwest Iowa. I moved to St. Charles in 2016.
What made you choose orthopedics as a specialty?
My first job as a Nurse Practitioner was in physical medicine and rehabilitation. I enjoyed watching patients get better and was inspired by their motivation. I was a three-sport collegiate athlete and have always been interested in sports medicine. I found working in orthopedics sparked a passion for helping people stay active and continue to do what they love, whether that's playing a sport or being with family.
What brought you to WashU Medicine Orthopedics?
Shout out to Crystal Huff, clinical liaison. She visited my previous clinic on a community outreach visit. She told me about the new clinic opening at Cave Springs and I was ready to try something new. I applied for the position and everything else is history!
What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?
Seeing patients get better after injury is so rewarding! Most interesting is our team. I have a lot of respect for all our specialists at WashU; they really know their stuff, and I am very thankful for their support.
What's the best advice you ever received?
"You cannot control what happens to you but there are two things in life you are always in control of: your attitude and your effort."
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I am the perfect mix of home body and adventure bug. I love to relax at home with my family but also up for adventure, particularly being outdoors. I enjoy biking, hiking, and skiing.
If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?
I would LOVE to be stay at home mother to my beautiful daughter Joanna. 💗
Anything else you'd like to share?
I am married to my best friend Rob, we have one daughter Joanna, and three cats.
