Meet Tiara Tompkins

Patient Billing and Services Representative

Where are you from?

I was born and raised from St. Louis, Missouri. We all know and love the St. Louis Cardinal’s live games are always good to enjoy with family.

What brought you to WashU Medicine Orthopedics?

What brought me to WashU Orthopedics is my family. My mother and sister also work for WashU, just in different departments. Orthopedics is the best decision I could’ve made hearing all the impressive stories of the successful surgeries.

How do you support the department?

I support my department by being in the front line at the reception desk. Making sure I give good customer service and making sure the patient has everything they need to start their visit.

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?

The most rewarding part is when you leave a good impression on the patients, and they come back they’re just happy to be back because we made their day, and they had a good visit.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Thing I like to do outside of work is to go shopping, take my daughter to the park and arcades, and spend time with my family.

What's the best advice you ever received?

Never take life for granted.

If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?

If I weren’t in health care, I would be in the criminal justice field as a homicide detective.

Anything else you'd like to share?

I have a 4-year-old daughter name Ayanna who I love, adore and spoil. We love our mommy and daughter time.
