Meet Sara Schmitz
Patient and Billing Services Representative
Where are you from?
I am originally from the Illinois side of the river, but I've been in Missouri much longer now. We bought our forever home in Arnold.
What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?
I have always had family in many different departments at the university and know how much they love WashU so it was my turn to find out why.
How do you support the department?
I am at the front desk at the Orthopedic Center in Chesterfield.
What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?
I love meeting and talking to the patients.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Watch my kids play sports and tag along to scouting and venturing events.
What's the best advice you ever received?
A patient told me not long ago to live everyday like it's your last and don't regret a thing.
If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?
I would most definitely be doing something artsy.
Anything else you'd like to share?
We love hosting family dinner and just hanging out together. With three girls, we are always on the go. Kennedy is a junior in high school, Izabella is a sophomore and Lucy is in sixth grade. We also have two fur babies, Jameson our labraheeler, and Larry our African Mastiff.
