Meet Brianna Kimbro

Patient and Billing Services Representative

Where are you from?

I’m from a little town across the river in Illinois.

What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?

My mom and my sister have both worked here for years and have been telling me to apply! The benefits are so great, I  couldn't resist any longer.

How do you support the department?

I work at the front desk at the Orthopedic Center, supporting our clinic providers and the Injury Clinic team!

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?

My favorite part of working in orthopedics is seeing patients progress physically and mentally during their treatment. There is nothing like meeting a patient in the Injury Clinic who is on the brink of tears due to their pain and injury, to see them weeks or months later, "graduating" from orthopedic care!

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

My favorite things include houseplants, thrifting (yard sales, estate sales, Goodwill – I love it all), Chappell Roan, trying new foods, and spending time with the people close to me. I have a four-year-old daughter, so we are always planning fun adventures, weekend trips, and of course, play dates!

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I remind myself of frequently is to stop trying to fit in people's boxes. Stop trying to be less, be smaller, or fit in. Just be you. You only get one life and we should at least get to be comfortable in our own bodies and lives!

If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?

In the past, I worked in the social work field and really enjoyed it. I was pursuing my BSW before beginning at WashU. I worked with clients who struggled with Substance Use and Mental Health. My favorite role was working as a birth & postpartum doula. I would love to do that again if life aligned that way!
