Meet Ashley McCormac
Billing and Patient Services Representative
Where are you from? 
I grew up in Overland Missouri. Daniel Boone once built a single room cabin there.
What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?
I decided to go back to working full time after both of my boys were in school, so I left BJC part-time and came to WashU full-time in 2018. I love working at WashU and I think it is so amazing that WashU offers the tuition program for their employees and their families.
How do you support the department?
I am on the pre-arrival team. We ensure that the patient has an in-network insurance plan and take care of getting any authorization needed for the patient to see us prior to them coming in.
What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?
I enjoy helping patients know that everything is taken care of for them insurance wise before they come to their appointment. I enjoy reassuring them before their procedures that we have everything we need. I get to talk with them quite often and become familiar with them.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I love to travel, read, go camping and do yoga.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Live life as if there is no tomorrow.
If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?
An elementary school teacher or a yoga instructor.
