Meet Misty Ramirez

Clinical Supervisor at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital & Progress West

Where are you from?

I’m from Cahokia, IL and now I live in House Springs, MO.

What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?

Before I started at WashU, I was a bartender and wanted to find a job where I could grow professionally. I started working for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in medical records,  and have grown through several positions, PSR II, Secretary II, workers compensation coordinator. I was promoted to my current position of clinical supervisor in March 2020.

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting or rewarding?

Talking to and getting to know out patients, helping make their registration and check in process as easy as possible.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I have twin girls who are almost four years old. They keep me very busy, along with my grandchildren that live with me. I just celebrated my 11-year wedding anniversary with my husband and in addition to my twins (Kennedy and Avery), I have four adult daughters: Adrienne-29, Isabella-27, Courtney-26 and Morgan-23. I also have a one-year-old golden doodle who I love to come home to and play with.

What’s the best advice you ever received?

To be yourself and treat everyone like you would want to be treated.

If you weren’t in health care, what would you like to be doing?

I have worked in the veterinary field and would love to work with animals again.
