Joseph Schatzker, CM, MD, BSc(Med), FRCSC, an icon and legend in fracture surgery, was the AOTrauma North America Visiting Professor at Washington University Orthopedics on February 11th and 12th, 2020.
Dr. Schatzker invented the tibial plateau fracture classification system over 40 years ago and was one of the original surgeons involved in creating modern fracture surgery and classification as we know it. He spoke on how his classification has changed through the years and what lessons he has learned over time, and gave stimulating case discussions with Washington University Orthopedics residents and faculty.
Dr. Schatzker is currently the director of the Mueller Institute based at Sunnybrook and is a Professor Emeritus of surgery at the University of Toronto.
