Infections
Infections in the hand are most common around the fingernails. These infections are generally mild and can be treated early with oral antibiotics and local wound care. Deeper infections around the tendons of the hand are suspected based on more marked swelling, tenderness along tendons, and pain associated with movement. These deeper infections may require hand surgery combined with antibiotics to resolve the infection and should not be neglected.
