Meet Michelle Sansevere
Patient Billing Services Representative
Where are you from?
I grew up in a small rural community. My husband and I bought my family home, making our kids the 4th generation to live there. A neat and funny tidbit about my hometown is that it almost hosted a historic duel in 1842. Abraham Lincoln and state Auditor James Shields nearly dueled. Thankfully, their friends intervened at the last minute, preventing the potentially fatal confrontation.
What brought you to WashU Medicine Orthopedics?
I was drawn to WashU Medicine Orthopedics because I find the field intriguing. Having previously worked in cardiology, I felt ready for a new challenge and wanted to explore something different.
How do you support the department?
I check in appointments, schedule follow-ups, and ensure everything runs smoothly for each visit. I always try to greet our patients with a smile, believing that kindness can go a long way.
What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?
There are so many fun and rewarding aspects of my job! I love interacting with a diverse range of people and knowing they are receiving the best care possible.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
When I'm not at work, you'll find me in my garden, cooking, or spending time with my kids and family. My home is my place of peace.
What's the best advice you ever received?
One of the best pieces of advice I have received is not to be afraid to question and challenge the status quo.
If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?
If I weren’t in healthcare, I would be cooking and baking delicious dishes at home and sharing my love for cooking on my very own YouTube channel!
Anything else you'd like to share?
My husband and I celebrated 14 years of marriage this October. We have two energetic boys, ages 7 and 12, a playful dog named Ranger, and a flock of quirky chickens on our small farm. Our family loves going on adventures and spending quality time together. We also take pride in our pumpkin patch and sunflower fields!
