Meet Evie Mack
Medical Assistant
Where are you from?
I am originally from Atmore, Alabama, a small that is about an hour from Pensacola, Florida. The best thing about my hometown is that it's close to the beach.
What brought you to WashU Medicine Orthopedics?
I came to WashU Medicine Orthopedics because I was looking to join a thriving company and a department that I could grow with and learn from.
How do you support the department?
I am one of the float MAs for the hand and microsurgery division. Although I am not primary to one physician I am trained to support them all in any capacity they need and I enjoy it so much because I get to learn something new everyday to take along with me on my journey.
What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?
I have also found patient care to be a ministry. It is my service to others and a contribution to make this world a little brighter for others.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
My favorite things to do outside of work include hanging with my friends and family, eating great food, reading, and taking lots of naps. I also travel back to Alabama whenever I can, so I can spoil my niece and nephew and see my family.
What's the best advice you ever received?
The best advise I have ever received comes from my beautiful mother Lena; "You do your best and let God do the rest."
If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?
I have been in healthcare for 23 years; I carry certifications as a CNA, CMT, and a CMA. I am currently in online classes for my BS in Health Information management and look to obtain certifications in medical billing and coding, CPC, and RHIA. Healthcare is all I know and all I will ever know.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I am a mother of three great boys ages 19, 14, and 12; and married to my best friend for almost six and half years. I am a huge Alabama Crimson Tide and Philadelphia Eagles fan (Roll Tide and Fly Eagles). Life has been pretty amazing, and I am looking forward to the new adventures that it will bring for me and my family.
