Meet Morgan Gourley
Lead Orthopedic Technician
Where are you from?
Little Rock, Arkansas.
What brought you to WashU Medicine Orthopedics?
A change in careers. I was a Medical Assistant for 10 years and wanted to change completely over to casting and medical equipment.
How do you support the department?
I cast, splint and fit medical equipment for orthopedic injuries, fractures, and pre/post operative care.
What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?
When a patient follows up with healed injury due to immobilization that I had hands-on help with.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Hike with my dog, storm chasing and traveling. I also kayak a lot in the summer.
What's the best advice you ever received?
Never rush your self-improvement.
If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?
Meteorology and storm chasing.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I have a 6-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Echo. I read roughly 75 books a year. I love nature, plants and new adventures.
