Meet Jordyn Benson

Medical Assistant

Where are you from?

Born and Raised in St. Louis, MO, then moved to Sarasota, FL, for 3 years. I moved back to STL in November of 2023.

What brought you to WashU Medicine Orthopedics?

I have always thought orthopedics was interesting and when the opportunity to work with pediatrics in the ortho department presented itself I went after it.

How do you support the department?

I am a Registered Medical Assistant for the department. I help room patients and assist with providers clinics.

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?

I enjoy helping the patients and parents get peace of mind when they are worried about the outcome. It is rewarding to work with such an amazing group of people, it's a very teamwork-oriented group. The environment I work in its very important to me and I am happy to say peds ortho is a great place to be.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I love to travel and do anything outdoors. I spend a lot of my free time reading, diamond painting, hiking, going to the gym and spending quality time with my dog and boyfriend.

What's the best advice you ever received?

Excuses are the nails that build a house of failure.

If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?

My dream job is in mortuary services. I plan on attending school later this year to become a mortuary cosmetologist/funeral director.

Anything else you'd like to share?

I enjoy visiting National Parks, visiting new places and trying new things. I enjoy true crime, and all spooky things.
