Meet Maggie Litteken

Senior Program Manager

Where are you from?

I have lived in Clinton County, IL, my entire life.  My family currently resides in Trenton, IL.

What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?

I have been with Washington University for seven years. In my newish role with the Department of Orthopedics, I can focus on career growth in graduate medical education, which I love!

How do you support the department?

I oversee the Residency Program and support the trainees throughout their five years of training. It is an honor to be part of this incredible department and its education mission.

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting or rewarding?

It is extremely rewarding seeing the residents grow from intern year to chief year. The obstacles they overcome are overwhelming. I also enjoy the team-based atmosphere in orthopaedic surgery and always striving for the best.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids. I love distance running and am always game for a new restaurant! I also enjoy watching my kids' activities and seeing them thrive. As a family, we love spending time at our cabin and making memories together.

What's the best advice you ever received?

“The world is not yours for taking, but for the trying. Try hard.”

If you weren't in health care, what would you like to be doing?

A realtor, I love learning about the housing market and seeing what is available. My husband and I currently flip houses and have rental properties that we manage.

Anything else you’d like to share?

My husband, Jeff, is awesome! We have three kids (Nash who is 7, Nella who is almost 5 and Brinley who is 2). They keep us very busy (and young!).
