Meet Jamaine Thomas, PA

Physician Assistant

Jamaine will treat WashU Ortho adult knee and hip patients at the Centers for Advanced Medicine (downtown and in South County).

Where are you from?

I was born in Guyana (South America) and grew up in Brooklyn New York after moving at 8 yrs old. I remember and miss the tropical weather, tropical fruits and foods.

What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?

My desire to work for an academic institution that is well-renowned as one of the leaders in orthopedic and innovative care, and the opportunity to work in the community where I live brought me to WashU Ortho.

What are you looking forward to in your role?

I look forward to working with and learning from some of the best orthopedic surgeons, while delivering outstanding patient care.

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Hanging out with my wife and family. I enjoy working out, playing, and watching sports like basketball, handball, and cricket. I also love to DJ music in my spare time.

What’s the best advice you ever received?

Whenever you feel like quitting or giving up, that's usually when you're closest to breaking through. So don't give up.

If you weren’t in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?

Writing, recording, and playing music - mostly reggae which I integrate with hip hop as a result of growing up in Brooklyn, NY.

Anything else you would like to share?

We got 5 chickens a few months ago that are currently laying eggs. Don't think I can ever go back - these eggs taste so much better.
