Meet Stacey Grable

Pre-Certification Coordinator

Where are you from?

I was born in Decatur, IL and moved to Moro, IL when I was two.

What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?

I have been with the University since 2003, I transferred to Orthopedics from Cardiology in 2012.

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting or rewarding?

In the world of insurance, rules are always changing. I find it rewarding when a patient’s surgery gets approved because when a patient is coming in for a surgery, they have enough to worry about. By getting their surgeries approved, it hopefully takes some of the worry off of them. I am lucky enough to work with a great team; I have some of the best co-workers out there and we work extremely well as a team.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Right now my favorite thing to do is spend time with my new granddaughter. She is 8 months old and perfect in my eyes. I enjoy any kind of family time and traveling.

What's the best advice you ever received?

Be kind, without expecting anything in return.

If you weren't in health care, what would you like to be doing?

I would be doing some kind of investigating or research work. I find problem-solving to be interesting. I like to “figure” stuff out.

Anything else you would like to share?

I am married (Brent) and I have 4 kids: Cameron (26) Kylee (21) Madysen (17) Brayden (16), 1 Daughter in law (Brianna), and 1 granddaughter (Daisy Lyn). We have a black lab named Tate. He is spoiled rotten. Kylee graduated from SEMO in December. She will be starting grad school in the fall of 2022. Both Madysen and Brayden play high school and club soccer. It keeps me very busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The beach is definitely my happy place. I love to travel when I have the time. I was fortunate enough to live in Italy for 3 years. It was an amazing experience. If you get the opportunity to go to Italy, do it. You won’t regret it. It is a beautiful country rich with history.

I enjoy going to concerts and of course Cardinals games.
