Meet Alexa Meyer, MSN, RN

Nurse Supervisor 

Where are you from? 

I am from St. Charles, MO, born and raised. I will most likely never leave the St. Louis area I absolutely love it! St. Charles is known for historic Main Street which is one of my top three favorite places to hang out.

What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?

I used to work at St. Louis Children's Hospital on the 10th floor as a charge nurse. On that floor, we saw a high volume of orthopedic patients constantly. They were by far some of my favorite patients to take care of and learn from. I learned so much when I was there and decided that I would love to pursue a career in orthopedics so, here I am!

How do you support the department? 

I am the nurse manager over the foot and ankle division at WashU Ortho. Shout out to my team who is the absolute best!

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting and rewarding?

I find it intriguing that patients come from all over the world to be able to be seen by all our amazing doctors. The thing I find rewarding is working with an amazing group of people who support not only me, but everyone on the team as well. They are an amazing group to work with and I am very lucky!

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work? 

My favorite thing to do outside of work is find a great place to hang out with my friends and family to get an amazing meal and some drinks!

What is the best advice you have ever received? 

Hmm…probably to trust dogs...they always know who to stay away from!

If you weren't in healthcare, what would you like to be doing?

I would love to open up a dessert shop and then at night it turns to a cute little wine bar!
