Matthew Matava, MD, a Washington University orthopaedic surgeon at Barnes-Jewish Hospital was recently named President of the Southern Orthopaedic Association (SOA). The SOA is the regional association for orthopaedic surgeons from 16 Southern states including Missouri, Kentucky and Arkansas.
In this role, Dr. Matava will help drive the mission of the SOA to develop and nurture the art and science of medicine in the specialty of orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Matava previously served as the Secretary/Vice President from 2016 – 2017, a position now held by his colleague and fellow orthopaedic surgeon, Ryan Nunley.
