At the 2018 Global Spine Congress meeting held in Singapore on May 2-5, Munish Gupta, MD, and co-authors from the Fox Pediatric Spinal Deformity Study (including Washington University Orthopedics' Michael P. Kelly, MD, MSc, and research coordinator Brenda Sides) received an award for best e-poster.

The e-poster entitled, "Rate Of Instrumentation And Fusion-related Complications after Surgical Treatment for Severe Pediatric Spinal Deformity within 2 Years: A Prospective Multi-center Cohort Study", was a multi-center study focused on the treatment of severe spinal deformity in pediatric patients. Dr. Gupta, et. al., also had one of the top 5 best papers out of 1,100 abstract submissions. His podium presentation on "Early Versus Delayed Rod Fracture In Adult Spinal Deformity Surgery Fused To The Sacrum Differ In Presentation And Revision Rates" was the most attended session of the conference. This study was performed at Washington University studying the surgical treatment of adult deformity patients.

The program committee, composed of 201 AOSpine experts, reviewed the submitted abstracts.
