Work-Related Injuries and Conditions
People who work with their hands can suffer two types of 'work injuries'. The first type could include a catastrophic injury that happens while at work, and could result in bone, tendon, nerve or blood vessel injury, or even amputation. These injuries are diagnoses and treated on an emergent basis, and prompt transfer to a center that is capable of treating these injuries is mandatory.
The second type involves syndromes that are based upon "repetitive motion" activities while at work, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis of the hand, wrist or elbow. These injuries are important to diagnose and treat (sometimes surgically) so that the patient is capable of recovering to the maximum extent possible. Often, surgical treatment is only the beginning of care for these patients, with rehabilitation and work conditioning important components of the patient's overall care plan.
We have a dedicated workers' compensation program, and provide immediate assessment and treatment of traumatic injuries, specializing in challenging reconstructions of severely injured patients. Early therapy and an early return to work are priorities for our worker’s compensation injury team.
