Current Research and Clinical Trials
With the resources of a Level I trauma hospital and highly skilled, board-certified trauma surgeons, Washington University Orthopedics regularly is involved in clinical trials related to orthopedic trauma care. Current investigations focus on cartilage injury, radiographic and functional assessment of patients with acetabular fractures and bone vascularity, treatment of non-unions and fractures of the long bone, as well as less invasive approaches to fracture care. Researchers also are studying various materials for use in bone grafts to replace the more commonly used material, which is tissue from the pelvic bone.
