Support in the form of a $2,000 stipend is available for externship applicants experiencing financial hardship. Stipends may be used for transportation, housing, fees, and other living expenses. To apply for the stipend, please submit your CV, Step One score and statement of interest (200 words or less) to Tracy Line, Education Coordinator.

A note from Regis O’Keefe, MD, PhD, the Fred C. Reynolds Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery:

"From the age of five, I was raised by a high school educated, first-generation citizen, single mother who worked full time selling dresses in a Pittsburgh department store. I was so fortunate along the way to receive support and participate in programs that allowed me to attend college, become a physician and make contributions as an orthopaedic surgeon.

We hope this program at Washington University Orthopedics will provide unique opportunities for students to reach career aspirations and to make a difference by advancing the care and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal diseases for years to come.” -Regis
