Meet Adelisa Burgic, LPN

LPN - Musculoskeletal Oncology

Adelisa is a Washington University Orthopedics Musculoskeletal Oncology nurse at the Center for Advanced Medicine

Where are you from?

 Bihac, Bosnia & Hercegovina.

What brought you to Washington University Orthopedics?

An opportunity for growth, I was working in pediatrics for three years and I thought it would be a great learning opportunity as I was preparing to go back to school.

What aspect of your work do you find most interesting or rewarding?

The aspect of my job that I find most rewarding is the learning aspect, I like to learn new things and be a part of such a great team.

What surgeon do you support?

Regis O'Keefe, MD, PhD (Department Chair) and Douglas McDonald, MD, MS.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I love to travel and spend time with my family and friends.

What's the best advice you've ever received?

Push for things you believe in and don't give up. If all else fails there's always option A, B, and C. This would come from my father who believes there is no downside, it's not how you get there it's a matter of getting there even if it's the road less traveled. Thanks to Papa B.

If you weren't in health care, what would you like to be doing?

I honestly do not think I would have a career that I'd enjoy outside of health care. My alternative would be a business owner or cosmetologist, in which case, I don't think I could do either one life long.

Anything else you would like to share?

I am happily married to my husband Adnan of four years. We have a daughter named Isla, a baby boy due in October, and two loving pups Lulu and Gigi. Outside of work, we love to be active, spend time with family, and travel the world. I look forward to graduating with my bachelors in nursing in spring of 2024.
