Meet Julia Partin, DPM

Foot and Ankle Specialist/Podiatrist

Dr. Partin specializes in the early detection and treatment of foot and ankle conditions of children, adolescents and adults (including athletes and Diabetic patients). She treats conditions using both a surgical and nonsurgical approach.

What made you choose orthopedics as your clinical specialty?

I have always had an interest in helping people and problem-solving. I chose podiatry because it allowed me to work with children and adults in both a surgical and non-surgical capacity. In addition, I find immense satisfaction in connecting with my patients personally while addressing their foot and ankle concerns.

What made you choose Washington University for surgical and clinical practice?

Having owned and operated a successful practice in the St. Louis area for 15 years before my arrival to the Washington University Orthopedics, I was impressed by the department commitment to excellence and its reputation in the medical community. Practicing at WashU Ortho allows me to continue provide superior patient care, while merging my expertise with Washington University’s comprehensive range of specialized services. Our shared vision is to provide outstanding musculoskeletal care to patients through exceptional state-of-the-art service and timely access.

What do you look forward to most for the future of medicine and orthopedics?

I look forward to advances in surgical techniques and procedures that will continue to yield better patient outcomes. I also welcome a future of inclusivity in which the field of medicine recruits, hires, and promotes a more diverse population of providers to invite a wide variety of voices unified in the mission of providing exceptional care to all members of our community.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

St. Louis has a lot to offer. My family and I love to go hiking at local and state parks, tend to our vegetable garden and try new restaurants. We also really enjoy our neighborhood and hosting frequent dinner parties.

If you weren’t a doctor, what would you like to be doing?

I have always had a passion for photography and travel. So, I could imagine cultivating those interests and being a travel photographer. There is something to be said for embracing a new lens to see the world.

Beyond exploring St. Louis, our family loves to travel. My wife, Stephanie, our two daughters, Oliva (9 yrs.) and Margo (7 yrs.), and I are always up for a new destination. We try to visit a national park each year and spend some time beachside. Our last park visited was Acadia National Park in Maine. We had a fabulous time hiking around Jordan Pond and trying new restaurants in Bar Harbor.

We are looking forward to our next adventure soon!

Dr. Partin treats patients at the Center for Advanced Medicine and the Center for Advanced Medicine - South County. Learn more about Dr. Partin, and why patients choose Washington University Orthopedics.
