Audrey McAlinden, PhD, Washington University associate professor of orthopaedic surgery, has been elected to the board of directors of the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS)—a prominent international research society whose mission is to accelerate musculoskeletal discoveries to improve health.
“The society serves as an important platform for a diverse group of members to present research and learn about new discoveries in the field,” McAlinden says. “Through many education, mentorship and community-based initiatives, members are provided with opportunities to develop important scientific networks, collaborations, knowledge and new skill sets that positively impact career advancement.”
McAlinden will serve as treasurer-elect through 2022, then as treasurer from 2022-2025. During her tenure as treasurer, she will serve on the ORS board of directors. The incoming board of directors will continue to focus on achieving objectives identified in the ORS 2025 strategic plan, along with new initiatives developed to help navigate through the pandemic period. The goal is for members to remain connected, motivated and inspired.
In her future role as treasurer, McAlinden will work closely with members of the finance committee to ensure appropriate steps are taken to keep the society financially sound. McAlinden adds, “Importantly, I hope to work with other committee members to raise money for new, worthwhile initiatives that will continue to benefit our members and attract new membership.”
