Pediatric orthopedic specialist, Perry Schoenecker, MD, received the 2019 Distinguished Achievement Award from the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) during their annual meeting. The Distinguished Achievement Award recognizes physician leaders who have made lifelong contributions to the health and well-being of children.
Dr. Schoenecker specializes in the evaluation and surgical care of the hip, foot, ankle and lower extremity in the infant, child, adolescent and young adult secondary to all causes, including congenital, developmental, traumatic and neuromuscular. Dr. Schoenecker has changed the life of many children during the his 40 years at Washington University, St. Louis Children's Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children-St. Louis, and is nationally and internationally recognized leader in the treatment of pediatric hip disease.
Dr. Schoenecker is the author of over 190 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and he is the recipient of numerous awards through the years, including the 2014 Distinguished Service Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Clinical Teacher of the Year (four occasions), 2012 Distinguished Clinician Award, and the Jerome Gilden Distinguished Clinical Surgeon Award (three occasions) from the Department of Orthopedics at Washington University. Dr. Schoenecker also served as president of the POSNA from 2006-2007.
