What we treat

We treat recent bone, joint or muscle injuries in adults and children ages 5 and older, including:

  • Sprains of the ankle, foot or knee
  • Strains and minor dislocations
  • Fractures (broken bones)
  • Sports injuries
  • Swollen joints from a recent injury
  • Shoulder, elbow, hand or wrist injuries
  • New back pain or injury (less than 7 days old)

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a “recent” injury?

We treat bone, joint or muscle injuries that happened in the last two weeks and have not been treated by another provider. Walk in or hold your spot online for same-day care — no appointment needed

What ages do you treat?

We see children 5 and older as well as adults.

Are X-rays, casts or splints available?

Yes! We can take X-rays and provide splints or casts during your visit, so you don’t need another appointment.

I’ve already seen urgent care or my doctor. What now?

If another provider has already evaluated your injury, call us at 314-514-3500. We’ll help schedule the right orthopedic care for you.

Do you treat concussions?

No. If you have a head injury or concussion, go to an urgent care center or ER.

Is a visit to the Orthopedic Injury Clinic cheaper than the ER?

The copay is the same as a specialty doctor’s visit and is usually less than a trip to the ER. WashU Medicine works with most insurance plans. Call your insurance to check coverage.

Do you treat chronic problems or give pain medication refills?

No. The Orthopedic Injury Clinic does not treat long-term problems, provide second opinions or refill pain medications.
