Hip Impingement Treatment - Orthopedic Minute

Transcript:

I'm Doctor John Clohisy from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University. I commonly see patients at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and our Orthopedic Center in Chesterfield who complain of hip pain and have a disorder called hip impingement.

Hip impingement is a problem of the hip joint where the femur of the joint comes into the rim of the socket and can create cartilage tears in the joint as well as hip arthritis.

Hip impingement can be corrected surgically to reshape the bones and relieve the impingement with tear cartilage problems and relieve the patient's symptoms. Most patients that are treated surgically for hip impingement improve and could return to their desired activities.
