PROMIS Computer Adaptive Testing in Patients Undergoing Primary Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
Purpose: The purpose of this research study is to compare commonly used questionnaires to PROMIS which is a new computer adaptive patient questionnaire.
Eligibility: Ages > 14 years who have had an ACL reconstruction.

The Safety of Antithrombotic Medications in Patients Undergoing Arthroscopic Surgery of the Knee

Purpose: The purpose of this research stud is to investigate the safety of blood thinning (antiplatelet and anticoagulant) medications in patients having knee surgery.
Eligibility: Ages > 50 years who are undergoing minor knee arthroscopy.

Post-Operative Narcotic Utilization after Outpatient Knee Arthroscopy
Purpose: The purpose of this research study is to gather information about the pain medication requirements of patients after these common orthopaedic procedures. Currently orthopaedic surgeons have very little information to guide their prescribing practices for narcotics and other pain medications after surgery. This may result in surgeons prescribing too much or too little medication. We hope that the information obtained in the study can be used by surgeons to better guide their post-operative prescribing practices to provide appropriate pain control to patients while prescribing the least amount of pain medication necessary. 
Eligibility: Ages > 12 years who are undergoing an ACL reconstruction or minor knee arthroscopic procedure.

Predictors of failure of non-operative treatment of shoulder pain the throwing athlete
Purpose: To establish the prevalence of shoulder blade muscle imbalance (scapular dyskinesis), decreases in shoulder motion and core muscle weakness in throwing athletes with shoulder pain; to evaluate the benefit of a focused rehabilitation program to correct these abnormalities; and to establish the risk factors for failure of non-operative management of the throwing athlete. 
Eligibility: Ages >12-50, throwing athletes if pain is greater than three on a VAS, and non-traumatic onset of unilateral shoulder pain in the dominant arm.

MOON Shoulder Instability — Cohort of Patients Undergoing Operative Treatment
Purpose: The purpose of this research study is to obtain long term follow up information in order to learn about how people do after surgical treatment for shoulder instability including return to activities, pain, and additional treatment or surgery. 
Eligibility: Ages 12-99 who are undergoing surgery for shoulder instability repair.

Retro versus Trans Articular Drilling for Juvenile Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Knee: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Study
Purpose: The primary goal of this research study is to compare how well knees function after one of two types of arthroscopic surgery techniques commonly used to treat stable OCD lesions that do not show healing from non-surgical treatment. 
Eligibility: Patients deemed skeletally immature with a diagnosis of juvenile osteochondritis dissecans (OCD).

ROCK: OCD of the Knee Prospective Cohort
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to create the first centralized, comprehensive database of OCD cases from which the ROCK institutions can conduct research. Projects stemming from analysis of information maintained in the study will help develop better understanding of the disease, its causes and progression, and the best treatment for patients with OCD.
Eligibility: Ages 10-99, who have a diagnosis of Osteochondritis Dissecans.

Multicenter ACL Revision Study (MARS)
Purpose: The purpose of this study is designed to evaluate how well individuals do after revision ACL reconstruction in terms of knee symptoms such as pain and swelling, activities of daily living, and sports participation.
Eligibility: Ages 12-65 who are scheduled to have a revision ACL reconstruction.
