Dr. Aleem has clinical interests in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of rotator cuff tears, shoulder and elbow instability, shoulder and elbow injuries in the throwing athlete, biceps tendon injuries, frozen shoulder and arthritis of the shoulder and elbow. Additional interests include acromioclavicular and sternoclavicular joint injuries, and fractures of the shoulder and elbow.

Research Interests

Clinical outcomes research on shoulder replacement surgery, biomechanics of shoulder replacements, and long-term clinical outcomes of rotator cuff repair. Additional research interests include development of new implant designs and value-based research in shoulder and elbow surgery.

Background

Dr. Aleem received his medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where he served as an Administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Aleem then went on to complete fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at The Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University.
