Karen received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri-St.Louis, and was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She later went on to receive her Masters of Science in Nursing, Advanced Practice Adult Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Karen brings over 17 years of nursing experience to Washington University Orthopedics, and has worked in a variety of clinical settings including neurosurgery, critical care medicine and orthopedics. Most recently, she worked as an inpatient adult nurse practitioner for both the Neurosurgery and Orthopedic departments at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Karen is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Exceptional Service Excellence Award at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, the Caring Spirit Award at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and the St. Louis Magazine Nursing Perfect Score Award. She was most recently awarded the 2014 Orthopedic Nurse of the Year from St. Louis Magazine's Excellence in Nursing Award, and was nominee for the Barnes-Jewish Hospital 2015 Catherine H. Doerrer Excellence in Professional Nursing Award. Karen is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
