Treatment Approach

During the 10 years that the Center for Adolescent and Young Adult Hip Disorders has been evolving, we have focused on the concept that nearly 90 percent of patients who require a hip replacement later in life have a hip disorder or deformity that has affected them for years. If hip disease is diagnosed and treated early, the natural hip joint often can be preserved, and the onset and progression of hip arthritis may be delayed or even prevented. Treatment strategies cover a spectrum including physical therapy, hip arthroscopy, arthroscopic impingement procedures, hip osteotomies, as well as hip resurfacing and hip replacement for advanced disease.
