Our physicians are actively engaged in both basic and clinical research related to sports medicine and are members of the Multi-Center Orthopedic Outcome Network (MOON Group), which is investigating ACL and shoulder outcomes. Several new procedures are currently under evaluation to prevent degenerative arthritis by repairing cartilage defects.
Current basic science research initiatives include:
- Studies of ligament healing
- Osteochondral plug transplantation
- Articular cartilage injury and repair
- Kinematics and biomechanics of elbow MCL injuries
- Biomechanics of various techniques for repair of ruptured large tendons, such as the Achilles tendon.
