Heidi Prather, DO, chief of service

Dr. Prather is Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. Board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Prather specializes in the conservative management of spine, sports, and general musculoskeletal injuries; spine, pelvis and joint problems related to pregnancy; women’s sports injuries and pelvic floor dysfunction. She has a particular interest in performing arts medicine and dance injuries. Listed in Best Doctors in America, Dr. Prather earned her medical degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, MO, in 1991 and completed a residency in 1995 at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago-Northwestern University School of Medicine.

 

Adam La Bore, MD

Dr. La Bore is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He specializes in the conservative care of musculoskeletal injuries, with an emphasis on shoulder and hip girdle injuries, neck and back pain, therapeutic spine and peripheral joint injections, and electrodiagnostic consultation. Dr. La Bore earned his medical degree from Loyola University - Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, IL in 1998 and served a residency at the University of Chicago-Pritzker School of Medicine. In addition to his residency, Dr. La Bore also served as a Captain in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army and is currently a physician in the USAF Reserve.

 

Devyani Hunt, MD

Dr. Hunt is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. She specializes in the conservative management of orthopedic problems, including performing arts medicine and women’s musculoskeletal health, as well as disorders common to the adolescent and older female athlete. Additional interests focus on the care of women throughout the life continuum, including treatment of low back pain in pregnancy, pelvic floor dysfunctions; pelvic pain and osteoporosis. Dr. Hunt earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Following a residency at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago-Northwestern University School of Medicine, Dr. Hunt completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal medicine and interventional spine care at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

 

John P. Metzler, MD

Dr. Metzler is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He specializes in the conservative care of musculoskeletal injuries, with special interests in foot/ankle, therapeutic spine injections, and the use of electromyography to assess muscle and nerve responses. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas, Medical Branch in Galveston, TX in 1991 and served a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, WI. He completed a fellowship in spine and sports medicine at Buffalo Spine & Sports Medicine in Williamsville, NY in 2000.
