Michael Gardner, MD

Dr. Gardner is Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine.  He specializes in orthopaedic trauma surgery.  His clinical interests are management of acute fractures of the arm, leg, and pelvis, as well as nonunion of fractures and post-traumatic reconstruction.  Dr. Gardner has particular interest and expertise in treating pelvic and acetabular fractures, as well as periarticular fractures including shoulder (proximal humerus) fractures, elbow fractures (distal humerus, olecranon, and radial head), hip fractures (acetabulum, femoral head and neck, intertrochanteric , and subtrochanteric), knee fractures (patella, distal femur, tibial plateau), and ankle and foot fractures (pilon and calcaneous); management of post-traumatic problems including nonunions and malunions; and management of periprosthetic fractures adjacent to prior total hip and total knee replacements.  Dr. Gardner earned his medical degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA in 2001 and served an internship in general surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill-Cornell University Medical Center.  He then completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, NY and a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, WA.

 

William M. Ricci, MD

Dr. Ricci is Chief of the Orthopedic Trauma Service and Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He specializes in orthopedic trauma and treatment of post-traumatic problems related to fractures such as non-unions, mal-unions, post-traumatic arthritis, and bone infections as well as treatment of complex acute fractures that often occur after traumatic injury around joints (shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle). Board-certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Ricci also leads the Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship training program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a Level I trauma Center accredited by the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ricci earned his medical degree from Duke University in Durham, NC in 1992 and served a residency in orthopedic surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery-Cornell University Medical Center in New York City. He also completed a fellowship in orthopedic trauma surgery at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, FL.
