News - Outpatient Surgery Facility
Washington University Orthopedics opened its new outpatient orthopedic center, located at 14532 South Outer Forty Drive in Chesterfield, Missouri, on July 25, 2007. The new facility, a collaborative effort with Barnes-Jewish Hospital, is in response to recent growth within the department as well as marked projected growth in demand for outpatient orthopedic services over the next decade.
The new, patient-focused 60,000 square foot facility will offers comprehensive outpatient orthopaedic services. The facility has been designed to provide the latest technologically-advanced orthopedic care, including minimally invasive surgical procedures which allow patients with many orthopaedic conditions to be admitted and discharged the same day. Non-operative orthopaedic services offered include conservative management of orthopaedic conditions by sports and physical medicine physicians as well as a rehabilitation center. The facility complements Washington University Orthopedics' existing office locations at the Center for Advanced Medicine on the campus of Barnes-Jewish Hospital as well as at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
The center has already been honored with a LEED award from Ameren UE. The award seeks to recognize projects dedicated to green building practices as well as energy and environmental conservation in the St. Louis area.
